Ask for two numbers and check them yourself: the installer’s Solar Accreditation Australia (SAA) accreditation, on SAA’s website, and the business’s Queensland electrical contractor licence, on the Electrical Safety Office licence search. Federal solar and battery discounts only apply when an SAA-accredited installer does the job, using products on the Clean Energy Council approved lists. As of October 2026, the battery rate steps down on 1 January 2027 and every six months after that, and the solar panel discount shrinks each 1 January until the scheme ends in 2030. A grid-connected system stays connected to the Ergon network. You use your solar first, buy power when you need more, and export what’s spare. Unless a battery is set up for backup, it switches off in a blackout to keep line workers safe. An off- grid system runs on its own with batteries, and often a backup generator, so it suits properties where connecting to the grid isn’t practical.
