What HPBC 2.0 means on your roof
You do not need the marketing names. Here is what matters for a Townsville home.
- Back-contact cells. The metal lines sit on the back, so the front of the panel is mostly glass and silicon catching sun.
- Heat coefficient −0.26%/°C. Panels are rated at 25°C cell temperature. On a summer roof the cells run hotter, and every panel loses a little power. A lower number loses less.
- Black frame, single glass. Clean look from the street. Specs are for the 475 W Explorer model we fit most.

01Why does Barra use LONGi as its main solar panel brand?
Because it is our best-value panel for the quality we want on Townsville roofs. The Hi-MO X10 has the wattage, heat performance and Australian warranty we are happy to stand behind, and it is the panel we fit on most new systems.
If another brand suits your roof better, we install Aiko, Jinko, Trina and Canadian Solar on request and explain the trade-offs in your proposal.
02What warranty do LONGi Hi-MO X10 panels have in Australia?
Under LONGi’s Australian limited warranty for distributed-generation modules, the Hi-MO X10 Explorer and Scientist models we use (including LR7-54HVH) carry a 25-year limited product warranty and a 30-year limited performance warranty.
The performance warranty guarantees at least 99% of rated output in year one, then no more than 0.35% loss per year after that, so at least 88.85% at year 30. On top of that, Barra gives a 10-year workmanship warranty on the install.
03What is HPBC 2.0 on the Hi-MO X10, in plain English?
It is LONGi’s name for the back-contact cell design in this panel. The metal wiring sits on the back of each cell instead of shading the front, so more of the panel face can catch sun.
You will also see a temperature coefficient of −0.26%/°C on the datasheet. That is how much power the panel gives up for each degree the cells rise above 25°C. In Townsville heat, a lower number is better.
04Will LONGi panels work with Sigenergy, Sungrow, SolaX or a Tesla Powerwall?
Yes. LONGi panels feed DC power into whichever inverter we design for your home. Most new Barra systems use a Sigenergy SigenStor hybrid inverter. We also fit Sungrow for many solar-only jobs, SolaX hybrids where they suit, and Tesla Powerwall 3 (which has a built-in solar inverter).
The right match depends on your roof layout, whether you want a battery now or later, and Ergon’s limits at your address. That detail is in your proposal, not guessed from a brand name.
05How many LONGi panels does a typical Townsville home need?
Most Townsville homes we fit land around 10 kW of solar, which is about 22 × 475 W LONGi panels. Smaller homes often sit near 6.6 kW (about 14 panels). Heavier daytime use, a pool or an EV can push toward 13 to 16 kW (about 28 to 34 panels).

06Do you only install LONGi, or can I choose another brand?
LONGi is our main panel brand, not our only one. On request we also install Aiko, Jinko, Trina and Canadian Solar, and we will walk through the trade-offs before you decide.
We do not sell Sungrow or Sigenergy as panels. Those brands sit on the inverter and battery side of the system.
